KIDNAP SCARE STILL EXISTS IN HOLLYWOOD

Harold Lloyd Reveals His Children Are Under Close Guard. My United Preii NEW YORK, April 17.—The kidnaping scare that followed the murder of Charles A. Lindbergh Jr., still prevails in Hollywood. Most motion picture people with children employ guards, Harold Lloyd, film comedian, has said. "I have two watchmen, a guard and 17 Great Dane dogs on my Beverly Hills place,” he said. ‘‘lt’s annoying to have to be constantly worried about the welfare of your children but it’s one of the things screen celebrities have to contend with.” Lloyd has three children. Gloria, 12; Peggy, 11, and Harold Lloyd Jr., 9. Seeking New Stories The comedian came East to look over the current stage plays with an eye to getting story material for pictures. He will remain here two weeks except for an excursion to Washington Saturday where he will be a guest at the semi-annual gridiron dinner. Lloyd, Interviewed at the WaldorfAstoria, revealed he currently was interested in bowling and that he was a Charlie Chaplin fan and hoped Chaplin soon would talk in films. Lloyd spoke animatedly about his rival, Chaplin. "I’m like a few million other Chaplin fans,” he said. "I’m one of his Intense followers. I do wish he’d talk, though. I’ll keep on going to see him, however, whether he talks or not. He’d clean up plenty if he tried talkies and 7 know he’d Bea success." Lloyd claimed that at present he was interested chiefly in improving his bowling score and finding new stories. Is Bowling Fan "I’m usually over the 200 mark in bowling,” he said. "I’m getting better all the time. , "Just before I last left Palm Springs I won a $1.50 prize in a tournament, too.” The comedian said that hereafter he hoped to complete a film every nine months. "I'm convinced it would be better business all around for me to work more often than I have in the past where I sometimes let two years get between pictures;’’ he said. "My chief trouble is getting what I consider adequate stories. I hope to do about three pictures every two years from now until I get ready to quit.”
