PRICE AVERAGE MOVES LITTLE IN FOOD MART Potato Market Is Steady; Lettuce, Carrots, Celery Are Higher. Although advances exceeded declines In value, price changes were about evenly divided In fruits and vegetables on the Indianapolis commission row during the last week. A decrease of 25 cents a box in pears featured the week's movement in fruits, which were mostly steady to weak In spots. Jonathan apples also dropped 15 cents, selling at $1.50 a fancy basket. Shipments of strawberries from Louisiana were unchanged at $3 to $3.25 a 24-pint crate. In the vegetable division, Iceberg Arizonla lettuce headed the group with an advance of 75 cents a crate; carrots were up 25 cents; cauliflower 15 cents and Florida celery 25 cents. Round stringless beans, moving contrary to the upward trend, were largely 25 to 75 cents a hamper lower, selling at $3.25. California peas dropped 50 cents a hamper, salable at $3.50. Other price changes were of minor importance. A steady trend prevailed in the potato market, excepting a slight dip of 5 cents a 100-pound bag in Round Triumphs, which sold at $1.87. Tennessee Hall sweet potatoes dropped 20 cents a hamper, selling at $1.35. Tomatoes remained unchanged at $1.75 a 10-pound box.

The Indianapolis Food Merchants’ Booster Club is to hold a bingo party at Holy Rosary hall, Stevens and S. East-sts, at 8:30 Monday night. Elmer Lay (above) is chairman of the committee in charge of the event. Apricot Rolls Rub apricots through sieve, season lightly with brown sugar and a dash of cloves and spread this puree on thin slices of baked or broiled ham. Roil up the slices and fasten with toothpicks. Dip rolls in slightly beaten egg and roll in fine dried bread crumbs. Brush with melted butter and brown quickly in a hot oven.
PEACH ICE CREAM
2-3 tap sweetened condensed milk. Vi tup water 1 tup fresh or drained canned peaches, mashed I tup whipping cream Blend the milk and water thoroughly, add the mashed peaches and chill thoroughly. Whip the cream very stiff and fold in the peach mixture, then pour into freezing tray. When about half frozen, remove from refrigerator and scraping the mixture from the sides and bottom of the tray, beat the contents well until very smooth, but not melted. Replace in refrigerator freezing unit until frozen for serving. Serves 6. Broiled Fruits A simple way to use whole fruits of any kind—bananas, apricots or sliced pineapple—is to dip them in melted butter or salad oil, then in seasoned flour and broil under a clear flame.
