FRED GALLOWAY DENIES WAGNER LAW VIOLATION Conciliators, Inc., President Refutes Charges by A. F. of L. Unions. Fred Galloway, president of Labor Conciliators, Inc., and the Amalgamated Association of Factory Workers, today denied charges filed against the Labor Conciliators by Robert H. Cowdrill, regional director of the National Labor Relations Board. The Labor Conciliators, the Mount Vernon Chamber of Commerce and Garment Corp. of America and Keck-Gonnerman Cos., both with plants in Mount Vernon, were charged with violation of the National Labor Relations Act by discharging union employes and forming a company union. The charges were based on a complaint of the Evansville Cential Labor Union and the United Garment Workers of America, Local 193. an American Federation of Labor affiliateGalloway Denies Charge Mr. Galloway denied that he in the capacity of president of the Labor Conciliators had been called in by the Chamber and the two companies to organize the rival union, the Amalgamated Association, in Mount Vernon. "Labor Conciliators has never functioned since its incorporation Oct. 5, 1935, and was in no way involved in the Mount Vernon dispute,’’ Mr. Galloway said. "The Amalgamated Association is an industrial union with 21 locals. We represent 288 workers in the Garment Corp. of America plant. The workers themselves asked us to organize them ” Mr. Gallow-ay charged that the American Federation of Labor was fighting his union because it was an industrial union not affiliated with the A. Plan Commission secretary, is co-operating with Rotary Club and WPA officials in arranging sites for the pools. CIVIC PROTEST DEBATED Northeast League Discusses Rail Yard Widening. A proposed protest against widening of the Nickel Plate Railroad yards south of 38th-st is being considered by the Northeast Civic League. The protest was discussed at a meeting of the league last night in the Moravian Episcopal Church, but no definite action was taken. open and had been cleaned, thoroughly renovated, and painted. The six courses are Riverside. Sarah Shank, Coffin, South Grove, Pleasant Run and Douglass Park. “Greens on all courses are being tested scientifically and treated accordingly,” said Mr. Sallee. "Many of them were found in acid condition, and every effort is being made to remedy this situation.” Conditioning of the courses is in charge of Orvil Robinson, chief florist at the park system greenhouse, and Andrew Miller, park board horticulturist. Mr. Miller also is head maintenance man for the six courses. Although all the courses are open now, the official opening dates are expected to be announced at tomorrow’s board meeting. Opening days for city “baseball diamonds, tennis, horseshoe and roque courts also are expected to be set at the meeting. Mr. Sallee said that the tourist camp maintained in Riverside Park for many years had been abandoned and was being developed into a picnic grounds for local residents. The grounds are situated near the Emrichsville bridge.

SCHOOL'S OOND ISSUE Gymnasium, Class Rooms to Be Added to Building at New Bethel. Plans for construction of a gymnasium and additional class rooms at the New Bethel school were being completed today. The State Tax Board yesterday approved a $54,000 bond issue. Acton residents opposed approval. Ed Cook.
