POST GRADUATE DOCTORS STUDY USE OF VACCINE Diagnosis Clinic Held for Visiting Physicians at Riley Hospital. Use of vaccine to prevent contagious disease was emphasized today to 400 physicians attending the second-day session of the Indiana University medical school and Indian State Medical Association post graduate medical course. Lecturers pointed out to classes meeting at the I. U. medical center here that while preventive serums have not proved their efficiency in treating infantile paralysis, serums are valuable in preventing diphtheria, smallpox, scarlet fever, tetanus and whooping cough among Children. The visiting physicians observed clinical cases in the James Whitcomb Riley Hospital for Children as a part of their past graduate training in diagnosis. Study Cancer The school, which began yesterday, is to continue through the ■week with clinics at the medical center each morning and symposiums during the afternoon. The State Medical Association is sponsoring meetings devoted to study of cancer and heart disease tomorrow and Thursday nights. Dr. Walter Palmer, associate professor of medicine, University of Chicago, is to speak on ulcers of the stomach at 8 tonight in the I. U. medical school auditorium. Outside lecturers include Dr. Gatewood Gatewood, Rush Medical School, Chicago; Dr. Charles C. Wolferth, University of Pennsylvania; Dr. Dean Lewis, Johns Hopkins University; Dr. Walter Hamburger, University of Chicago, and Dr. Willis Campbell, University of Tennessee. Principal speaker last n.'ght was Dr. Ralph Major, University of Kansas, who traced the development of medicine from the time of Hippocrates in 450 B. C.

DE PAUW TO BE HOST TO INDIANA ACADEMY Meeting of Social Science Group to Be Held April 24, 25. Time* Special GREENCASTLE, Ind., April 7. — De Pauw University is to be host to the Indiana Academy ol Social Sciences April 24 and 25. College and university professors of sociology, economics and political science make up the academy’s membership of 70. A program of speakers for the spring meeting is to be announced soon by Prof. Frank G. Bates, Bloomington, president. Preliminary plans, outlined by Prof. Harold Zink, arrangements chairman, include a luncheon and dinner. WHEELER MISSION TO OBSERVE ANNIVERSARY Eugene C. Foster Is Chairman of Committee for Ceremony. Eugene C. Foster is chairman of the forty-third anniversary celebration of the Wheeler City Rescue Mission, to be held Friday night, April 24, in the Central Avenue M. E. Church. A jealous young suitor was held today, charged with the murder of Jean Moorhead (above), 17-year-old Mansfield (O.) high school senior. The suspect is Charles Wilson deft), 23-year-old electrician. Wilson, it is charged, found Miss Moorhead, member of a socially prominent family, and another youth in a car parked in front of her home Sunday night. When the girl's brother and her escort remonstrated with Wilson, there was a scuffle followed by several shots. IRWIN TO REORGANIZE DISTRICT COMMITTEES G. O. P. Chairman Schedules Busy Week in Northern Indiana. Four district organization meetings are to be held this week by Don B. Irwin, Frankfort, Republican state chairman. His schedule calls for: First District meeting tonight in Gary; Second District meeting tomorrow afternoon in Winamac; Fifth District meeting Thursday in Marion, and a Sixth District meeting Friday afternoon in Crawfordsville. Mr. Irwin met informally with county committee officials in the Fourth District in Fort Wayne Saturday.
