TOWNSEND BARS MARION COUNTY PRIMARY FIGHT
Decides to Seek Delegates in Local Convention, Observers Say. Forces of M. Clifford Townsend, lientenaut governor, seeking Democratic nomination for governor, are to make their fight for delegate support frpm Marion County at the county convention, it was said today The Lieutenant Governor’s managers said they did not file a slate of delegates and precinct committeemen for the primary election. On the other hand the supporters of E. Kirk McKinney and Pleas Greenlee are seeking the support of Marion County in the primary with each group filing a slate of delegates and precinct committeemen. Political observers believe that the fact that the Townsend group is not seeking to elect their own delegates proves that efforts will be made to obtain support from McKinney men in the county convention. Independent candidates for delegates and precinct committeemen have filed in both major parties. An anti-organization group in the Republican party, it is reported, has filed a slate of delegates and precinct committeemen to oppose the regular Republican organization Slate. The anti-organization group in the Marion County G. O. P. seeks to name John H. Bookwalter as county chairman.
