OBSERVANCE OF GOOD FRIDAY IS URGEDBY KERN Mayor's Resolution Asks Citizens to Attend Church Service. A request that Indianapolis citi(zens observe Good Friday, April 10,
with appropriate ceremonies and worship, wherever possible, was made today by Mayor Kern. His proclamation follows; “Good Friday, April 10, commemorates the death of Christ on the crass for the redemption of mankind 1900 years ago. Christ’s death and resurrection are the fundamental events which all Christian people believe and revere. “The custom of Good Friday religious observance is growing throughout the United States. In many of our principal cities, this year, Good Friday will be observed by appropriate religious services by people of all Christian denominations. “Following a precedent of several

years, a committee of well-known laymen and clergymen from the various Christian denominations is sponsoring extensive Good Friday observances in the downtown business sections and in the various outlying communities of the city. “As Mayor, I therefore call upon the people of Indianapolis to join in this observance by attending Good Friday religious worship wherever possible, and concur in the committee’s suggestion that executives of stores, firms and industrial plants grant to such of their employes as may desire the privilege of attending religious services on Good Friday from noon until I/.”
