I. U. STUDENTS ! HEAR PRAISE UF TRADEJSROUPS Contributions to Business Since 1831 Traced by Don Warrick. Times Special BLOOMINGTON, March 27. Following an explanation by Don E. Warrick, Indiana Bankers Associa- | tion secretary, Indiana University j business school students sought ; today to prove by statistics that trade associations serve their greatest purpose during depressions. Speaking before the seniors yesterday, Mr. Warrick said trade associations have played an important part in American business life since their inception in 1831. They show the most rapid growth in prosperous eras, he added. Mr. Warrick said further that participation in the typical association is voluntary and is representative of a desire to co-ordinate individual efforts for the common interests. “The theme of practically all trade associations in America is first, the protection of the particular

business group, and second, the desire upon the part of the majority to bring about constructive development which makes their particular line of business more beneficial to the economical life of America," Mr. Warrick explainedData Collection Important "It is estimated by the United States Department of Commerce that there are more than 5000 national, interstate and state trade associations and several thousand local trade association,” he added. The speaker said that governments. both national and state, have depended upon trade associations as gatherers of information. “The activities and developments of trade associations have kept pace with the great progress which has been made under our competetive system of business. The people of the United States may properly point with pride to the progress made in this country in education, living standards and per capita income and wealth,'’ he said. “Trade associations are the backbone of the capitalistic system in this country, where the American system of government offers the greatest opoprtunities to any people of the world.” Job Clinic to Study Employment By United Press TOLEDO. March 27.—The University of Toledo has announced inauguration of a clinic in the technique of landing a job.
