PROPOSED SITE FOR WEST SIDE PARK INSPECTED Board Members Consult Civic Leaders; Willing to Spend $35,000. Park Board members • inspected a 150-acre tract on Big and Little Eagle Creeks between W. Washington and W. Michigan-sts today and made numerous inquiries from West Side civic leaders about purchase prices. This is a proposed site for anew West Side park, which the board hopes to add to this city’s $10,000,000 system this summer. The Rev. C. G. Baker, Hawthorne Community House superintendent, told commissioners the groups that had differed on the location last summer now had agreed on this tract. He added it probably could be purchased for a “reasonable’ price. “We have $35,000 available in the budget for the purchase,” Jackiel W. Joseph, president, said. “This board does not intend to go above that figure and ue bonds for the project. “It has been our policy in recent months to put in improvements only in those sections where property owners are willing to make donations to the city. This ground has no great value, and we intend to get a large tract for our money.” Mayor Kern has urged the board to expedite action on this proposed park. 900 SCOUT EXECUTIVES CONCLUDE CONFERENCE Meeting Closes After Eight Days at French Lick. 2’imr* Up,, id FRENCH LICK, Ind., March 19. chance of his escaping the death sentence disappeared this week when the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the decision of Judge Robert C. Baltzell of the Federal Court here. Judge Baltzell today called attention to the fact that local attorneys who prepared Barrett’s appeal after E. E. Rice. Hamilton. 0., counsel, withdrew, served without fee, and also paid for preparing briefs and trips to Chicago. They were Will H. Thompson, Fred C. Gause. Arthur R.
