Marrh s.—Seventeen Indiana utility men, 10 from Indianapolis, are among the 638 throughout the country to whom the Federal Power Commission has granted temporary permits to hold interlocking directorates. Such directorates are subject to review by the commission under the new holding company law. “All of the authorizations to hold positions for which application was madp are subject to the specific reservation of the right of the commission to require any and all such persons to make a further showing that neither public nor private interests wiil be adversely affected thereby,” Chairman Frank R. McNinch or the FTC said. “All are subject to further orders of the commission. “The authorizations were based upon findings of fact made by the commission which were grounded exclusively upon the applicants' representations of record and where such representations did not indicate that either public or private interests would be adversely affected by such authorization.” Those from Indiana are: Lois Allen. Edwin J. Booth, Frank C. Cour, Dale W. Marshall. Arthur T. Irwin, Chester D. Porter, T. E. Reardon, Louis B. Schiesz, John N. Shnnnahan. Donald L. Smith all of Indianapolis; Will M. Red-Baiting fight Without Basis, School Board Member Says. 7 imrt Sprrial' WASHINGTON, March s.—Mrs. Virginia E. Jenckes, Indiana's only woman representative, was accused of seeking publicity in her Redbaiting fight with the District of Columbia school board after she assailed board members at a public hearing and then declined to be cross-questioned, asserting she was ill. The hearing was conducted by a House subcommittee with the purpose of making recommendations regarding the Sisson Bill which calls for repealing the so-called “Red rider” which prohibits explaining communism in the District schools. Rep. William Schulte, Democratic colleague of Mrs. Jenckes, is a member of the subcommittee. He is frankly for repealing the rider, as are all liberals and most educators.
