DOCTORS DON'T EXPECT RETURN OF MENINGITIS Cases Reported Increasing in Several Sections Over Country. Although the United States Public Health Service has reported an increasing number of meningitis cases in several sections of the country. Dr. Herman G. Morgan, Health Board secretary, today said physicians anticipated no widespread recurrence of the disease here. "We have had sporadic cases since 1929. the year of the last epidemic,” Dr. Morgan said, "but only one case has been reported this year. "Although March and meningitis seem to go together in some sections, our worst experience with the malady has been in the winter. Dur-

ing 1930 and 1931 we had many cases, but wo reached a normal level since then.” Several Types of Disease This disease is an inflammation of the membranes covering the brain and spinal cord, Dr. Morgan explained. Epidemic meningitis is caused by a germ known as meningococcus. Tuberculosis, pneumonia and streptococcus germs also may cause an inflammation of these membranes, he said. The technical name for the membranes is meninges, so an inflammation, no matter what the cause, is called meningitis, Dr. Morgan explained. Meningococcic meningitis; probably is the most severe. Dr. Morgan said the last named i malady starts suddenly with a headache and fever, a severe chill, explosive vomiting and stiffening of the neck. A physician should be called at once, as early treatment is important, he added. WRINGER ROLLS Types lor ail washers—bring in worn rolls as samples! IDEAL WASHER GO. 208 N.
