The cattails were real funny men. the sort you read of, now and then. Their bodies were real slender, and their heads were long and thin. A tiny stem popped out on top, so thin it seemed that it would drop. You never have seen such strange chaps, no matter where you’ve been. As they approached the flower pot, one said, “Why, we can help a lot t’ward freeing all the Tinies who are prisoners inside. “We’ll swing our mallets. They will smash the pot, and bring an awlul crash. Gee, this will be the first time that a stunt like this we’ve tried.” Once more they heard a Tiny shout, “Hey. hurry, please, and let us out. We're packed in very closly. It is not one bit of fun. “Wee Goldy’s standing on my toes, and someone poked me in the nose. Whatever you are going to do, please rush and get it done.” Miss Tulip answered, “Okay, lad.

BATS, like owls, because they are night-fliers, are much misunderstood, and victims of much unfounded superstition. A bat does not blindly fly about, as many people suppose, but is better guided than most birds. Bv some super-sense, these creatures can fly blind-folded about a room that is criss-crossed with wires, without striking against them. * * * NEXT—When have astronomers learned most of the important serets of the sdn?

Your plight is really not so bad, ’cause in about a minute you can step out to the ground. "All huddle close together and you’ll shortly hear a mallet land. Protect yourself from flying bits, and you'll be safe and sound.” The cattails then began to swing their mallets. What a real deep ring. “The flower pot is tough,” said one, "but we will swing some more.” "Crash, crash!” The noise rang through the air. It gave the Tiny girls a scare. “My goodness,” shouted Goldy. “My eardrums are getting sore.” And then, the next thing that they knew, one of the mallets crashed right through. “Hello, there. Tinies,” said a cattail. “Glad to meet you all. “We’ve made the opening just wide enough for you to step outside. Now, take it easy, all of you, and do not trip and fall.”

THE TARZAN TWINS
With excited cries Baadu clamored at the gates of the village of his people. “Open! Open!” he shouted. “I bring news. Tarzan is dead! Gudah killed him!” Even before the chains of the gates could be loosened the news fled on winged tongues until the village was in an uproar.

Dick and Dock heard the clamor, and they now knew “nough of the language to comprehend the refrain which beat upon their ears. “Tarzan is dead. Gudah killed him:” The Tarzan Twins were filled with dismay. “It was our fault—all our fault,” Dec groaned miserably.

“Yes,” Dick agreed; “if we hadn’t been foolish enough to get lost in the jungle, none of this would have happened. I suppose this is the end of us, too.” Even the usually optimistic Doc had no word of encouragement now. The news of Tarzan had cast a pall over him.

Soon the boys were ordered once again before the cannibal chief, and in their presence Galla Galla addressed Baadu: “It was you who led Tarzan to' his death. Your reward shall be the choicest morsels at our feast.” Baadu looked at the boys and smacked his thick, ugly lips!
