COUNTY'S AGED RECORDS SEEN AS DANGEROUS Fire Hazard Is Factor in juvenile Home Drive, Newhouse Says. The fire hazard of between 200 and 300 tons of records stored on the fourth floor of the Marion County Courthouse is a big factor in the County Commissioners’ drive for a new Juvenile Detention Home, John S. Newhouse, board president, . revealed today. The space in the basement now occupied by Juvenile Court is to be converted into a fire-proof vault for records from all' departments if the county council approves plans for the new home, he said. “Not only is the fire hazard large, but the danger of a structural collapse is a possibility, if many more tons of records are piled on the wooden floor,” he stated.
