FORMER BUTLER CAMPUS UR6ED AS SCHOOL SITE Civic Club Asks Purchase for Proposed H. S. in Irvington. A movement to urge the purchase of the old Butler University campus as a site for a proposed Irvington city high school is underway today. The Christian Park Civic Club at a reorganization meeting last night in the Christian Park Community House authorized a committee headed by Ray Thompson to prepare a prospectus for the School Board. William P. Piers, new president, said tha. the members named as their first choice for the site the old campus and as a second choice the property owned by the board south of E. Wash'ngton-st on Pleasant Run-blvd. “Our members believe that residents living south of Washington-st should have the new- school in their neighborhood.” Mr. Piers said. Other officers named last night are Robert O'Brien, vice president; Miss Mary Eid, recording secretary; Howard Lanham, recording secretary, and Charles Powell, treasurer. The board's building committee in a recent report said that the property purchased in 1928 by the board was unsuitable for the construction of the proposed high school.
