‘‘Ho, hum,” said Coppy. “I should brag. Go right •ahead, you tots, and drag most any beast before me and I'll train it right away. “I made the deer do stunts for you. Some stunts you thought he couldn't do. You may think it was hard, but it was really just like play.” "Aw, all small deers are really tame. You’re lucky 'twas a deer that came,” snapped Duncy. “Why, I'll bet that I can do some training, too.” "I once was with a circus and I always got a real big hand when I made lions hop around. I’m just as good as The Tinies’ friend, the hunter, smiled and then he said, “Now, listen child! Perhaps what you have said is true. We’ll very shortly see. “There still are lots of beasts round here. As soon as one of them comes near, we’ll let you try to capture it. Don’t ask for help from me.”

Wee Duncy threw his small chest out. “Oh, I know what it’s ail about,” he said. “Bring on your wild beasts. I will fill you with surprise.” Though bluffing, he felt safe and sound, because there were no beasts around. Then suddenly, a kangaroo appeared before his eyes. “Ah, there’s your chance,” yelled Dotty. “You can now do what you said you’d do. Walk right up to the kangaroo and shake his little paw.” Poor Duncy! He was trapped, but he thought, “I’ll be game as I can be. That really is the cutest kangaroo I ever saw.” The interest of the tots increased, as Duncy walked up to the beast. He said, “Hello there, fellow. Vvt can be a friendly pair.” The kangaroo's hind legs flew out and then the bunch heard Scouty shout, “Ha, ha! The joke’s on Duncy. He is flying through the air.”
sweeping charges of gambling and vice were made. Two issues of the anonymous handbill have been scattered on Muncies porches during the last two weeks. They listed names of persons alleged to be operating dice games and horse race bookmaking establishments. They also mentioned purported victims of gambling schemes. No murders await investigation, authorities said today, but an inquiry probably will be made into threatening letters said to have been received recently by prominent Muncie business men.

THE TARZAN TWINS
Proudly Zopinga drove his captives toward the gates, whence streamed a mob of hideous tribes people—children and adults—jabbering excitedly. The teeth of the savages were filed to sharp points, but fortunately the boys did not know this was the mark of cannibals.

THE INDIANAPOLIS TIMES
The children threw sticks and stones at the strangers, and each time a hit was scored, the savages laughed uproariously. Emboldened by the applause, an ugly boy rushed at Doc from the rear and swung a stick at his head with sufficient force to crush the white boy’s skull . . .

. . . Though the captors of Dick and Doc were sworn enemies of Tarzan, the ape-man might have effected their immediate rescue had he known where to find them. But the mighty Lord, of the Jungle was many miles away, scouring the perilous forest with unwonted feverishness.
—By Edgar Rice Burroughs
At this very moment, Tarzan himself was in danger Under the stress of his anxious search for the boys, he was heedless of that vigilant caution which aras his sole insurance against sudden death in the jungle. And now a great black panther stalked him on silent feet!
