The tiger scouty lassoed was a very frightened beast because he’d never seen tha Tinymites. For moments he was still. And then he howled and jerked about, just hoping he’d escape, no doubt. Wee Dotty loudly shouted •‘Lat him go, lads, or I will.” ‘‘Now, wait,” cried Scouty. ‘‘That’s not fair. I gave this little beast a scare, and now I m going to show him that I'm quite a friendly sort. “If I can't tame him I will let him run away. “Here's where you get a dandy treat. Just watch me! It will be a lot of sport.” He pulled the rope that held the beast. Then, in a moment, ‘twas released. The tiger shortly seemed to know that all was quite all right Instead of running, hj just sa|. Fair Goldy shouted, "Look at that! Already he is making friends. Now, Isn't that a sight?”

IMPORTANT RESEARCH DISCOVERY ANNOUNCED Ohio State Reports Advances in Transmutation of Elements. By Unittd Prrs COLUMBUS. 0., Jan. 14.—A discovery heralded as important in research work with million-volt tubes for the transmission of' elements, and the study of physical properties of negative ions was announced today by the Ohio State University department of physics and astronomy. The first successful production of strong narrow beams o t negatively

Then Scouty crawled right up and said. “Hey, let me pat your little head. I am not going to hurt you.” Then he stroked the tiger twice. Ihe litle fellow snuggled near. It seemed that he had lost his fear. “I told you so,” said Scouty, “Now he thinks that I am nice.” The Tinies' friend, the hunter, said, “That’s fine! Now you go right ahead and play with him. I'm going to try to make a trap or two. “This time I’ll catch soma beasts, I know, and then I’ll put on quite a show.” Wee Coppy said, “If you don't mind, i’ll go along with you.” They found a large hole in the ground with leaves and twigs piled all around. “We’re going to cover up that hole,” the man said, with a grin. “Then we will hide behind a tree and very shortly you will see some beast go walking over it, and quickly fall right in.”
charged hydrogen atoms in high vacuum was claimed by the department. The announcement was made after eight months of research by Paul Darby and Dr. Willard H. Bennett. The discovery is expected to facilitate resolution and aid precise measurement in million-volt transmutation tubes. The negatively charged particles will break up the nucleus of the atoms of the target and transmute the elements of which the target is composed. Scientists previously have been unable to obtain negative beams of any element. The discovery is expected to lead to closer study of the physical properties of such ions.

THE TARZAN TWINS
Tarzan made hurried inquiries of trainmen and passengers; but their information was confused and contradictory, for the security of civilization has robbed men of the powers of keen observation which are so vital to those who dwell in the primitive wilderness.

Two trainmen reported mistakenly that they had seen Dick and Doc long after the jungle derailment. Several passengers said they had seen them alight at various way stations. To Tarzan only one thing was certain. The boys were lost somewhere in the hazardous jungle:
