CITY COMMERCE TEACHERS TO GO TO CONVENTION National Association in Meeting to Open Tomorrow in Chicago. Commrrcial teachers in Indianapolis schools are to attend the convention of the National Commercial Teachers Association to open tomorrow in Chicago, to continue through Saturday. Heading the. city delegation is to be Wilbur S. Barnhart, Manual High School commercial department head. Others to attend are ,to be M. D. Burgess, Technical High School; Miss Agnes Meehan. Washington High School, and Miss Gertrude Lirber, Manual High School. Dec. 25.—Reopening of the Christian-Congregational Denomination and Union Christian College, closed and in receivership lor several years, is to be effected here next summer under the Auspices of the Chicago Theological Seminary. Legal difficulties have been rejnoved and reopening approved by ,the Indiana and Illinois state Christian-Congregational Conferences. J9y United Prrx* SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 25.—Former President Herbert Hoover told Ihembers of the Union League Club Mere that a shift of sentiment against President Roosevelt appears to have swung all except two states in the East and Midwest into the Republican column. J The two states he reported as still supporting Roosevelt policies were Minnesota and Wisconsin. The former chief executive spoke entirely of! (he record at an informal dinner. Those who attended said he did not mention his personal plans regarding the coming campaign. RUSHVILLE COUNCIL APPROVES INCREASES Salaries of Six City Employes Raised, Effective Jan. 1. By United Prest PARIS, Dpc. 25.—Paul Bourget, for the last 40 years one of France's best known authors, died today. He Was 83. , Bourget, a commander of the Legion of Honor, was named a member of the French Academy in 1894 when he was only 42—a signal distinction. A poet, novelist, essayist and dramatist he was regarded as an accurate observer of life and was rtiuch occupied with social problems and psychology. He was the Priz Osiris in 1930.
