Ini , Drc. 20— Arrest of three gunmen who rncot’P'l in two battles with local poljpp Is believed near, it was revealed toriav. Chief Thomas W. Rice indicated that an investigation in which State Police arc assisting has uncovered important clews. Following a conference be*ween Chief Rice and two state officers, it was disclosed that the trio sought is suspected of several holdups in Indiana. In addition to the robbery of the Ramsey Brothers grocery herp, the gang is sought in connection with holdups in Marion, Bluffton, North Vernon, Hanover, Crothersville and Sellersburg. While authorities pressed their search for the trio, Patrolman Paul Middleton, temporarily blinded by glass from a shattered windshield when occupants of a pursued car fired on police early Monday, was removed from Culver Hospital to his home here. Physicians attending the wounded officer said his condition Is not, serious, although he
