Arrest of 10 persons hero Sunday In connection with alleged stolen car activitie- today was heralded by police as the nucleus of a Cleanup that eventually will extend to other cifie in the state, with more arrests expected After police questioned those held in jail. Including four boys under 20. they announced they had gained valuable information that might have far-reaching results. Meanwhile, two of those held, police said, were identified as gunmen bv victims of a holdup in Martinsville last Wednesday, and a third as having been with the other two in an auto wreck shortly afterward. They are Richard Fogelsonger. 17. of 1841 Brookside-av; Theodore Marsh. 20, of 1634 Carrollton-av, and Richard Schmidt, 17, of 1537 Lawton-st. CITY COMMEMORATES WRIGHT’S FIRST HOP Mass Flight From Five Airports Marks Kitty Hawk Date. Indianapolis today commemorated the first flight, of the Wright Brothers 32 years ago at Kitty Hawk, N. C., with a mass flight from each of the city’s five airports. Claude Stamper, 6703 E. Washing-ton-st, blind, is to take his first airplane ride today. He is to be piloted by Herbert O. Indianapolis, has been selected for promotion to captain, the United States Navy Department has announced.

CANN ACCUSER JAILED FOR OWN PROTECTION Witness Forked Up After Finking Suspect to Liggett Murder. Cv I iiill dl'rrnu MINNEAPOLIS. Dec. 17.—A witness who named I.sadore <Kid Cann) Blumenfeld as the slayer of Walter Liggett, weekly newspaper publisher, was held in the county jail today for “protection.” The witness is Wesley Anderesch, who served eight days in the workhouse with Cann last year. Held with him was his fiancee, Dora Isaacson. They probably will be taken before the grand jury tomorrow. Mrs. Edith Liggett, who was with her husband when he was shot down the night of Dec. 9, consistently has insisted that Cann was one of the slayers. STATE DRYS TO GATHER Indiana Convention of Prohibition Party to Be in April. A state convention of the Prohibition Party has been called for the first week in April in Indianapolis to name a state ticket and delegates to the national convention May 5 and 6at Niagara Falls, N. WORKER MURDERS 4, WOUNOS^OTHERS •Missed 2 Other Guys,’ He Mumbles in Cell. By United Prenn LOS ANGELES. Dec. 17 —Charles N. Layman. 45, crazed relief worker who killed four men on a ’WPA project and wounded four others seriously, today muttered in his county jail cell that he "missed twm other guys.” An enraged mob of fellow relief workers trapped him in a blind alley and threatened to lynch him. Officers surrounded Layman and forced their way through the crowd to police cars. Layman appeared at the drainage ditch being constructed by the Federal government with a revolver in one hand and a rifle in the other. Standing on a dirt heap above the ditch where the laborers were working, Layman shouted. “I said Id get you guys,” and opened fire. Loses Fingers in Accident Fred Prange, 72, of 633 Middle-dr. Woodruff Place, lost two fingers in an accident yesterday at 312 Mas-sachusetts-av. He was taken to City Hospital.

George Morin, Mishawaka, was arrested by police Thursday as operator of a car weaving through traffic. He was taken into custody after a chase which police say lasted more than a mile. On October 27. Ruth Joanne Morin, his daughter, ran across the street near their home to purchase candy at a neighborhood grocery. She was struck by a car driven by Dale M. Brinely, South Bend, and died en route to a hospital.
