COURT BATTLE THREATENED IN PERUTAX ROW Miami Auditor Incensed in State Board’s Action in Revising Ruling. Timet Special PERU, Ind., Dec. 16.—Word has been received here that the State Tax Board will not rescind its order
revising the 1936 tax rate for the Peru civil city, according to Philip Zoercher, board chairman. Mr. Zoercher’s statement was said to be in answer to a report that I Lew Mavburger, Miami County j auditor, would seek court restraint in opposing the board's mandate, i The Tax Board first decreased the ' civil corporation rate from 62 to 32 cents and later revised its order by restoring 16 cents of the 30-cent | reduction. Mr. Mavburger protested the re- j vised order, stating that tax dupli- ! cates had been prepared on the basis of the 32-cent levy and that he was under no obligation to honor the revised order which set the rate at 48 cents.
