Indianapolis’ first intra-city basketball commotion of the season occurs when Broad Ripple and Manual tangle in tonight's high school headliner at the Shortridge gym. The Ripplemen are gunning for their second victory in as many starts, while the Redskins are seeking triumph trail after losting their opener to Ben Davis. Both forces are to play under handicaps. Manual is without the services of Coach Oral Bndgford. who is inactive with an infected leg. It was announced today that Coach Bridgford probably will not be able to take over the squad until the middle of January. Harry Thomas has assumed the South Side directing duties. Ripple is to play with Ralph Kelly, veteran guard, out of the lineup. Kelly is recovering from an appendicitis operation in a local hospital. The game will begin at 8, with a reserve prelim starting an hour earlier. Washington’s city champions, who split even in two games last weekend, play host tonight to Danville's netters. Danville holds a victory over Cathedral, gained early this season. Park School entertains Castleton and Crispus Attucks defends against Smithville in other local encounters tonight. Shortridge, Tech and Cathedral take to the road. All three are seeking to break into the win column. Shortridge faces Greencastle with Veteran Bud Mueller in the lineup for the first time. Tech bumps into a Newcastle quintet that is establishing itself as one of the earlyseason powers of the state. Cathedral’s Irishers are in top shape for a scrap with the Elwood Panthers. Spivey Encounters Cooler in Cue Tilt The defending champion, Lou Spivey, will meet the “old master.’’ Harry Cooler, in a state threecushion billiard match at 8 tonight. Remaining tournament games, which are being run off in Cooler’s parlor, are to be played on anew “eye-rest” cloth of purple hue, first introduced in the recent world championship matches in Chicago. By beating Clayton McGregor, Terre Haute. 50 to 36, in 86 innings last night.
