BALL TEACHERS PARTY TO TOUR THROUGH DIXIE Historical Points of South to Be Visited on 2400-Mile Trip. Timm F/irrial MUNCIE. Ind., Dec. 10.—Par from Indiana s wintry winds, a party of students and alumni of Ball State Teachers College is to spend Christmas holidavs in a 2400-mile tour of southern states. Leaving here Dec. 21, the collegiate group is to cover an itinerary through eight states, visiting points of literary, historic and political significance. First, conceived as a project of a “History of the South” class, the tour is to be directed by Dr. Robert R. LaFollette. social science department head. Participation, however, is not to be restricted to class membership, and reservations are open to any student or alumnus. Christmas Day in sunny Florida is only one of the new experiences in store. The tourists also are to visit "My Old Kentucky Home;” Lincoln's birthplace; “The Hermitage,” Andrew Jackson's home; Muscle Shoals; birthplace of Helen Keller; locale of Stribling novels; Sherman's route to the sea; historical old Charleston and Fort Sumier; Piedmont textile district and Norris Dam. This historically rich circuit, leading the bus load of students through Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North and South Carolina and Southern Ohio, is similar to a tour taken by 30 students last year. The party is to return Dec. 31.
CHAMBER WILL HEAR RETAILERS’ PRESIDENT C. O. Sherrill to Speak on Cooperation in Business. C. O. Sherill, American Retail Federation president, is to speak on ‘‘Co-operation of Government and Business for Prosperity” when he addresses the annual meeting of the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce Monday at the Columbia Club. This announcement was made today by William H. Book, Chamber executive vice president. Retail merchants are to be represented by a reception committee embracing all retail fields and headed bv Theodore B. Griffith, L. S. Ayres & Cos. vice president and general manager. ROADS ARE SURVEYED FOR SAFETY PROJECT First Aid Stations to Be Located Near Evansville, Timm Special EVANSVILLE. Ind., Dec. 10. A committee of threp law enforcement officials today surveyed highways near here to select sites for five first-aid stations. The highway safety project, sponsored by the local Red Cross Chapter, is to provide emergency facilities in places where accidents are most common. On the committee are State Police Lieutenant Don Franklin, Capt. Nordhaus of the Evansville department, and Deputy Sheriff Olllie Weaver.
