“Oh, sea the big Snow Island sign,” said Dotty. “I think this is fine.” Then to the big, fat man she shouted, “Tell us, who are you? “We came to see the sights, you see, and we re as thrilled as we can be. We re always tickled when we find some spot that is brand new.” The old man smiled, and said, “Well, I am just a guard, up here so high. I stand outside that monstrous gate from morning until night. “Some folks can enter. Some can not. Oh, I have turned away a lot. They can not see Snow Island, if I don't think they’re all right.” “Oh, we're all right,” said Duncy. “Gee, we’re just as harmless as can be. A little elf sent us up here upon * vine he grew. “We'll only stay a little while.” The man then answered, with a smile, “Don’t worry, little fellow. I am glad to welcome you. “The gate will open up real wide.

and then you youngsters dash inside. Not far away you'll see a house. Rush up and walk right in. “A duck will meet you with a quack. Now. please don't let that scare you back. Just stroke his head a little bit, and let him see you grin.” “Why look! That gate's swung open wide,” one of the happy Tinies cried. And then they all rushed through it. “There's the house,” brave Scouty said. “I guess this is our day of luck. Upon the porch I see the duck.” And then a woman shouted, “Don’t stand there. Come in, instead." Inside the house they stood around. “My goodness, warm clothes must be found.” exclaimed the woman. “I will get you boots and real nice coats. “Then to the Snow Man you can hike. You are the sort of tots he’ll like. Be sure and keep these collars buttoned up around your throats.”
Prof. Birge is set for Sunday afternoon. He has conducted the oratorio 23 times in Indianapolis and other cities. BULLET JTRIkES~CRIB Mother Unable to Explain Who Fired Mystery Shot. Jerry’s leave-taking from Lady Beth was more restrained, but none the less poignant. “I-er-that is, when I get back,” he stammered; “that is if I get back. I’ll want to ask you something. Meanwhile, may I hope?” For answer, Beth pressed his hand warmly.

As Iskander, Tarzan moved to the head of the curious legion. It seemed truly that the militant spirit of Alexander the Great had swept down through the ages and found lodgment in the giant form of the Jungle Lord. And now his voice ‘boomed out: “Forward, MARCH!”
—By Edgar Rice Burroughs
At double-quick step he marched his army to engage the foe. As he reached the edge of the plain, he saw a tide of savage black warriors surging over the enemy rampart. Then, unbelievably, a troop of Arab horsemen galloped spiritedly out upon the plain!
