Nov. 22 - Finding of the skeleton of a man on a lonelj island board has revived the mystery of the Galapagos Island cxiies, the Los Angeles Times said Thursday. The Times quoted Dr. V W. Deutsch. president of the Board of Aldermen, president of the American Jewish Congress, and leader of anti-Tammy fights, died suddenly last night after a brief illness which he had thought only a cold. Hp was one of the strongest leaders of national Jewry and one of the most, widely honored members of the New York bar. He won his leadership of the Board of Aidermen as a fusion running-mate of Mayor Fiorello H. La Guardia. He had headed the Jewish Congress since 1929. Mr. Deutsch had been absent from City Hall for a week, suffering from a cold aggravated by the exertion of almost daily speaking engagements. He was 51. Politically Deutsch was a Democrat. but he was a forceful enemy of Tammany Hall. crew of a tuna clipper in November, 1934. Theories advanced at that time that they were the bodies of Lorenz and Arthur Estampa, a sailor said to have been a member of the Baroness’ strange court. A rumor on the island held that the Baroness and Phillipson had banished them because of a water shortage.
