CHEVROLETS AS gifts Exr::: Tc n TO BOOM SALES Three Points Relied Upon to Stimulate Christmas Purchases. The Chevrolet Motor Cos. is looking forward to the highest volume of Christmas sales in its 25-year his- j tory, according to W- E. Holler, vice president and general sales manager, who outlines the factors supporting that view. The prediction is based, Mr. Holler said, mainly upon three points—the excellence of the new 1936 Chevwhich were introduced Nt.j 2; the timeliness of their introduction, just before the Christmas buying season, and the fact that the new General Motors Acceptance Corp.'s 6 per cent purchase plan reduces to anew low figure the outlay | required to own and drive anew j motor car. ‘ Orders taken on announcement j day,” said Mr. Holler, “exceeded j anything in our history. Plainly, j the public agrees with us that the 1936 Chevrolets are the finest product we ever have introduced. Increased beauty and luxury, greater safety and economy, and finer performance characterize both the j Master deluxe and the Standard j series. Both new lines are equipped i with perfected hydraulic brakes, and both have solid steel turret top bodies by Fisher. There has been a growing trend toward the giving of automobiles for Christmas, and these fine cars of low' price certainly w’ill be selected by many for Christmas giving. “This should be especially true in light of the fact that the purchaser is given a next year's car, rather than one which will be supplanted by anew model in a few weeks. The advancement of the announcement date removes this deterrent to Christmas buying, and for that reason can not fail to stimulate yearend business. “Finally, there is the new payment plan, whereby the purchaser on a 12-payment contract receives the benefit of lowered interest rates. The plan in use heretofore w'as the most liberal automobile time payment plan in the industry. With the further reduction in rate it becomes possible for the thrifty buyer to effect further important savings bv selecting as a Christmas gift one of the new Chevrolets.”
REOS BEING SOLD ON NEW PAYMENT BASIS Company President Points to Eaminfjs Now Available to Buyers. D. E Bates, president and general j manager of the Reo Motor Ca r Cos., | announces that Reo cars can he j purchased on anew 6 per cent payment plan. The new Reo C. I. T. I 6 per cent plan offers anew low de-! livered price to the time buyer. j Mr. Bates stated: 'The new payment plan will en- I able Reo buyers to purchase on the most advantageous terms and thereby save considerable money. All you have to do is add to the unpaid cash balance an amount equal to the insurance premium. For a 12month term, multiply the total by j 6 per cent. Phvsicians use liquid laxatives. Hospitals use the liquid form. If it is best for their use. it is best for home use. And today, there are at least a million families that would have no other kind in the house. The liquid laxative generally used is Dr. Caldwell’s Syrup Pepsin. It is a doctor’s prescription, now so widelv known that you can get it all ready for use at any drugstore, anywhere. It contains senna and cascara both natural laxatives that form no habit. Try Syrup Pepsin! It will make you wonder how you could ever get along with any cathartic that disturbs "the system, and actually retards your return to regularity. —Advertisement.

PONTIAC FORMS GROUP TO LEAD SAFETY^ DRIVE Wholesale Organization of Company Enlistee 1 in Campaign. Times Special PONTIAC, Mich., Nov. 21.—Solid backing for the current drive toward greater highway safety was assured here with the formation of the Pontiac Safety Men, the membership embracing the entire field wholesale organization of the Pontiac Motor Cos. From this nucleus it is hoped to enlist as active proponents of safe driving every Pontiac dealer and salesman in the United States, thus bringing an organization of thousands of persons into the w'ork of reducing highway mishaps. The Pontiac Safety Men were organized during a recent convention at the factory here, and H. J. Klingler, president and general manager of the Pontiac Cos., was named honorary president. “The primary purpose in bringing the club into existence,” said Mr. Klingler, “was to form an organization through which could be dramatized several essential points in highway safety recognized by everyone close to the automobile industry. Those points are that today's cars are safe cars, and that they will figure in few accidents if safely handled. Our men are capable drivers, our cars are capable cars, and the organization was created to find out w'hat could be accomplished throughout the country bypaying particular attention to safety. ‘ It is generally agreed that nine out of every 10 automobile accidents are avoidable. And certainly every automobile manufacturer, and every one connected with h ; s organization, has a moral obligation to keep out of the nine avoidable accidents even though they may not be his fault.” To keep the theme of safety constantly before the membership, instrument panel safety shields—silver for one year of no-accident driving and gold for two years—are available for members, who also are constantly reminded of the safety theme by periodic messages from the central office, and who are supplied with windshield stickers for use where state laws do not interfere. A handsome plaque will be awarded to that one of the company's 25 zones w'hich shows the best safety record for the previous month.
