YULE SAVINGS IN STATE BANKS SHOW INCREASE South Bend Deposits Up 66 Per Cent: $110,501 to Be Distributed. /I’/ 7 .nr* Special SOUTH BEND. Ind, Nov. 15 - South Bend Christmas savings show an increase of 66 per cent over last year, with a corresponding gain in the number of depositors, a survey of local banks disclosed today. Total deposits of $110,501. payable to 2960 accounts, are reported for the current year. This is a distinct increase over IC-34 when $66,280 was paid to 1777 depositors. The nations total deposits, according to the American Bankers Association, show a 4 1 per cent increase over last year. Local bank and business officials regard the increase as a definite indication of business improvement. Gain in Richmond />•/ Times Speri'll RICHMOND. Ind . Nov. 15 —A 26 per cent, increase in Christmas savings over 1934 is reported by banks here. In addition general deposits are said to have gained 16 per cent, slightly more f han the average increase reported for the nation. Muncie Savings Up B;i 7'mf* Special MUNCIE. Ind., Nov. 15.—Local Christmas Club accounts are larger than a year ago. according to a survey of Muncie banks. Checks aggregating $83,000 are to be mailed to 3000 depositors early next month.
