WILLIE MASON IDENTIFIED AS DAIRY ROBBER State Expects to Conclude Police Murder Case Late Today. Willie Mason, on trial in connection with the machine gun slaying of Police Sergeant Lester Jones, today was identified as one of the bandits who staged a holdup of the Capitol Dairies the day before the police officer was slain. Testifying in Criminal Court, two employes of the company pointed out Mason as one of the bandits. He and Edward (Foggy; Dean face a charge of committing physical injury during a robbery. Miss Louise Obeiting, pretty switchboard operator at the dairy, and Floyd Sachs, credit manager, recalled Mason as one of the bandits who staged the raid Feb. 6, 1933. May Rr-t Case Today Prosecutors said they expect to rest the case late today. If Richard Keller, alleged Cincinnati slayer, and pal of Mason, is not brought here from St. Paul by this afternoon the state will conclude its case without his testimony. There were reports that he had confessed Dean told him of participation in the Peoples Motor Coach Cos. robbery in which Sergt. Jones was slain, but these reports have been denied olfioially. That Mason lived up to his reputation as a toughy was related to the jury today by William Conklin, former Kentucky probation officer. He said he had been threatened with death by Mason in 1933, while authorities sought the suspect. Mr. Conklin testified that ne and another probation officer went to the home of Ed Miller in Louisville and that Mason and George Schw'artz, now serving a life term, put guns on them and threatened their lives. “Reach for Ceiling” “ ‘Reach for the ceiling, big boy, or I’ll turn on the heat’,’’ Mr. Conklin said he was threatened by Schwartz. Mason held a machine gun on him and echoed the threat, the former officer said. “What happened to the machine gun?” Mr. Conklin was asked. “I don't know’. All I wanted was It taken off me,” he said. Tw r o slate witnesses yesterday identified Dean as one of five armed thugs who participated in the S3OOO Polk Milk Cos. stickup Jan. 4, 1933. Bruce Parcels, Polk distribution manager, leaned forward in the witness chair and said, "That man in front of me is the one that put the gun on me.” Attempting to shake the identification, Clyde P. Miller, defense counsel, asked, “Weren’t you badly frightened?” “Oh, no,” Mr. Parcels, victim of other robberies, replied. “These men weren't the type to scare you like they usually are."
