JAMES SCOTT IS NAMED TO SAFETY BOARD Democratic Leader Chosen to Take Post Resigned by McCulloch. James P. Scott, 4402 Central-av, has been named a member of the Safety Board by Mayor Kern. He succeeds Dr. Carleton B. McCuilorh, Sixth District Works Progress Administration director, who resigned from the board yesterday. Until recently Mr. Scott was acting Democratic county chairman, a post which has been taken over again by Walter C. Boetcher, City Controller. Mr. Scott is 38 and is president of the Scott Trucking Cos. For many years he has been active in Democratic politics and Is chairman of the Twentieth Ward. Earlier this year, Mayor Kern appointed Mr. Scott to the Marion County liquor control board, a position he is to resign next Monday. He served 18 months in the Navy following his graduation from Technical High School and Is a member of the American Legion. He has been in business here 1G years. Thomas M. Quinn, active in the furniture business a number of years, has been mentioned for the vacancy on the liquor control board. SATURDAY PROCLAIMED •FORGET-ME-NOT DAY’ Marks Seventeenth Anniversary of Start of Last B'? War Drive. Mayor Kern has p-oclaimed Saturday "Forget-Me-Not'’ Day. The day marks the seventeenth anniversary of the start of the last big offensive in the Meuse-Argonne forest which was to lead to victory for the allied forces in the World War. Disabled veterans of the World War are to sell forget-me-nots and Mayor Kern appealed to all citizens to be generous. FLEE INSTOLEN CAR Three Gunmen Kob Filling Station of SIOO. Three gunmen who robbed a Hanover filling station of SIOO late yesterday fled in a car stolen from Indianapolis, state police reported today. HICKAM NOMINATED FOR OAR PRESIDENT Slated’to Succeed Wilde in Local Post. Hubert Hickam, first vice president of the Indianapolis Bar Association. was nominated to succeed Carl Wilde as president of the organization last night in the Columbia Club. A member of the law firm of Noel, Hicham, Boyd and Armstrong, Mr. Hickam is to be elected at the December meeting unless an opposition candidate is named from the floor. Other nominees are: Russell Willson, first vice president; Taylor Groninger, second vice president; William C. Kern, secretary; Harvey Grabill, treasurer; John A. Royse and Herman K.
