TWO DIVISIONS ON LAST HALF IN FUND DRIVE Special Gifts, Corporations Groups Pass Mark of 60 Per Cent. Pledges to the Community Fund special gifts committee today have brought the total well over the half-way mark. Today's donations w or r $60,136, making the total $279,328. or 61 per cent of the quota. Donations were listed as follows: Public Service Cos. of Indiana, $1150; J N. Shannahan, $600; Charles W Chase. S6OO. Beveridge Paper Cos.. $2000; Coco-Cola Bottling Cos., $1500; Empire Life and Accident Insurance Cos, $1100; Oram Dealers National Mutual ?’ire Insurance Cos, $1000; W J. Holliday fc Cos. $1500; Indiana Lumberman Mutual Insurance Cos, $1100; Indianapolis News, $5000; Indianapolis Water Cos., $lO,000; Lilly Varnish Cos., $1400; George S. Olive A: Cos., S2OOO, and Peter C. Reilly, $3600. The national corporations division reported $3118,50 today, which added to previous pledges brought the total to $13,134 50, or 618 per cent of the division's quota. Listed in the pledges are Sears, Roebuck <V Cos., SISOO, and the Link Belt Cos., SIOOO. FRAUD SUSPECT HELD ON WOMAN’S CHARGES Says lie Never Returned $655 She Gave Him 5 Years Ago. Charged with defrauding Mrs. Emma I, Whelins, 1401 N. Capitolav of $655 five years ago, John Sullivan, alias McCormick, was arrested by detectives when he returned to Mrs. Whelinms’ home. Mrs. Whelms said she gave Sullivan the money when he told h°r he needed it to release capital in the cast. Sullivan said he was given the money to return Mrs. Whelins’ brother from California. The brother was not returned.
