INDIANA CO-ED ' GRADE AVERAGE SURPASSES MEN Reports for Second Semester of Last .Year Given. & V Times Special BLOOMINGTON, Ind„ Oct. 25. The scholarship report at Indiana University lor the second semester of the past school year shows that the higher grades were made by women. The co-eds had an average of 1.6733 for the semester, and the men finished the term with an average of 1.4771. Men not belonging to fraternities made higher grades than the organized men, but the opposite was true in the case of the women. So- ► rority girls had a higher average than did the co-eds not belonging to 60cial organizations. The Alpha Chi Omega Sorority, With an average of 19133, led all other campus organizations the second semester, according to Dean C. E. Edmondson's scholarship report. Kappa Delta Rho Fraternity, which had an average of 1 8832, came second. Sigma Phi Upsilon and Alpha Delta Pi Sororities ranked third and fourth. Oct. 25 Elvin H. Hewins, Boonville, was announced here today as Indiana University’s representative in the state Rhodes scholarship contest. Dean S. E. Stout, selection committee chairman, said representatives of the Indiana Institutions of higher learning would meet Dee. 12 or 14 before the state Rhodes scholarship committee. At that time, two students are to be named to represent Indiana in the district contest Dec. 16. Two representatives from the states of Indiana, Kentucky, Wisconsin. Michigan, Ohio and Illinois will compete in the district meet, following which four students will be selected for scholarships. Thirtytwo scholarships are awarded in the United States annually, four scholarships from each of the eight districts. Each Rhodes scholarship has a value of S2OOO per year and calls for three years of study at Oxford University, England. 'rally event schedule Woodruff Place Baptist Set Program for Sunday. Sunday will be Rally Day at the Woodruff Place Baptist Church. The Men’’’, Bible Class of 125 members will i oen the all-day meeting at 9:30 a. m. Church services begin at 10:45. Frank McCellen and C. L. McCracken are in charge of a special program.
