GANGS BLAMED FOR KILLING OF GARY ALDERMAN Gamblers Held Responsible for Slaying of Young Vice Crusader. GARY, Ind , Oct. 25.—Gambling racketeers or black-hand feudists were held responsible today for the slaying of Dan Per-otta, "boy aldwrman" of Gary, whose bullet-ridden body was found in a ditch near Griffith, six miles southwest of here. The 23-year-old alderman, youngest in the city's history, had led a spirited fight against vice resorts, gambling houses and taverns. Several groups of racketeers have been reported fighting lor control 01 policy games and other gambling. The possible black-hand motive was supplied by a policeman who reported that several weeks ago Mr. Perrotta told him he had received threats and was "in a bad spot.” Three well-dressed men seen driving away from the spot wh°re the body was found late yesterday were sought by police. They were believed to have tossed Mr. Perrotta's body from their car. Mr. Perrotta was married three months ago to Josephine Miccolis, whose father, Paul Miccolis, reputes "sugar king" of the Capone syndicate, was shot to death last year. A leader among Italians here. Mr. Perrotta was business agent for the Gary plumbers’ union. He was elected i the City Council last spring. STAMP CLUB MEETS Eighth Annual Tri-State Exhibit Opens at Lockerbie.
