FULL CALENDAR ARRANGED FOR ' CITY SHRINERS Pre*Ha!lowecn Frolic for Families Is to Be Held Saturday. Shriners are to have a full calendar of fall and early winter activities, according to the entertainment list In the current issue of The Murat, official publication. A pre-Halloween frolic for all members of Shrine families except children is to be held Saturday. Costumes, but no masks, are to be worn. On Thursday, Nov. 7, a card party Is to be held for the ladies. Admission is to be by card only. Rig Party Nov. 30 The big party of the year is to be on Saturday, Nov. 30. Members of the nobility and their ladies are to dance and play cards. Another afternoon card party for the ladies is to be held Thursday, Dec. 5. Friday, Dec. 13. a state-wide ceremonial is scheduled with all Indiana Shrine temples participating. The B:g Desert Dance is to be held Dec. 19, following the Shrine Follies of 1935. LABOR PARTY TO BE TOPIC FOR DEBATERS W ill Chambers and Roy Burt to Be Heard Tomorrow Night. Will Chambers, editor of TV. Union, official Marion County Central Labor Union Organ, is to debate Roy Burt, Chicago, member of the American Federation of Teachers, at Castle Hall at 8 tomorrow' night. Subject of the debate, in which Mr. Burt will take the affirmative, is to be "Resolved. That the United Stales Needs a Labor Party.” Mr. Burt formerly was associate director of workers education for the Wyoming Federation of Labor, and a member of the United Mine Workers of America. In 1932 he was Socialist candidate for Illinois Governor. He now' is national Socialist party organizer, and is on a tour of Indiana, which will include Brazil. Terre Haute, Sullivan, Evansville and Gary. HOLY HOUR OBSERVANCE SCHEDULED FOR PUPILS Eucharistic Committee Event Set at St. John’s Church. St. John's Academy pupils are t.o assemble in St. John’s Church at 1:30 Friday, for Holy Hour, in anticipation of the Feast of Christ the King. The hour is a yearly observance of the Eucharistic Committee of the Sodality of Our Lady. The freshman class is rehearsing the tenth mass from the “Vatican Kyriale,” which it will sing in St. John’s Church Dec. 6, when members are to be received into the sodality. Training is under the direction of Sister Cecilia Rose. Seniors are to celebrate Foundation Day today, commemorating the ninety-fifth anniversary of the foudlng of St. Mary-of-the-Woods. Executive to Speak C. Walter McCarty, Indianapolis News managing editor, will speak on “News Gathering in General” at 8 Friday night in the Washington, before the Indianapolis Federation of Community Civic Clubs.

Knights of Columbus Council is to entertain Saturday night with a harvest ball at the K. of C. The new grill Is to be formally opened. Special features have been arranged by the committee. HIGHWAY WORK BIDDING TOTAL NEAR MILLION Figures Filed on 17 Bridge and Grade Projects in 10 Counties. Bids have been received by the State Highway Commission on 17 bridge and grade separation projects in 10 counties, at an aggregate cost of about $1,000,000. One hundred seventeen bids were received yesterday, the low bids aggregating $730,379, as against an engineers’ estimate of $924,733. The projects are to be financed with state Federal highway aid and public works funds. A grade separation and bridge extension project in Vigo County, having an estimated value of $157,731, is the most costly among the 17. Projects include: Bridge on Road 145, over Anderson River, low bid for which was $3493 by Weigand & Waldhier, Troy; bridge over Lost Creek and another over Snake Sreek, on Road 40, $28,477.99, Cooper Brothers Cos.,
