COUNTY COUNCIL APPROVES NEW APPROPRIATIONS Reduction of $20,000 Is Made in Request of $108,763. Additional appropriations totaling $88,762.49 were approved by the County Council today when members acted on additional fund requests by county commissioners for the remainder of 1935. Commissioners had sought appropriations totaling 5108.763.49 but the council made reductions totaling $20,000, largest item denied being SIO,OOO for materials to be used on a WPA belt highway project. In addition the council probably will have to appropriate an additional $45,000 for old-age pensions for the balance of the year, according to County Attorney John Lind°r. This will be necessary with formal notification by Judge Earl R. Cox on his ruling in mandamus proceedings brought by persons eligible but denied pensions due to lack of funds. It was estimated $90,000 additional will be needed for this purpose next year. DIRECTOR ANNOUNCES CAST FOR TECH PLAY “Seven Keys to Baldpate” to Be Senior Class Offering. Casting of the play, “Seven Keys to Baldpate,” which is to be presented by the A to K division of the Technical High School senior class, has been completed by Miss Clara Ryan, director. Those chosen include Joseph Hayes, Josephine Best, Elnora Hartman, Don Harris, Edward Collier, Thomas Hayden, John Bland, Roland Boughton, John Hawkins, Philip Featherstone, Ruth Collier, Elnore Harter, Richard Helm, Robert Tnsley and William Ball. “Seven Keys to Baldpate” W’as written by George M. FARMERS WILL HEARjSQCIALIST Indiana Union Convention to Be Addressed by Norman Thomas. By Timm Special FRANKFORT, Ind., Oct. 17. Norman Thomas, national Socialist leader, will address the opening session of the second annual Indiana Farmers Union convention here Tuesday. Approximately 400 delegates and officers and more than 1000 other members of the organization will attend, Edward A. Stinson, secretary, has predicted. The union is non-partisan and claims credit for aiding farmers by recent legislation, both state and national. It took an active part, sponsors say, in obtaining the threeyear moratorium mortgage law and the state $1.50 tax limitation law'. Robert Spencer, Monticello, state president, will preside at the oneday meeting. Speakers will include E. H. Everson, national president; E. E. Kennedy, national secretary, and Chester Graham, Michigan. Officers for 1936 are to be elected and a legislative program outlined. City Accountants to Attend Parley Fifteen members of the Indianapolis chapter, National Association of Cost Accountants, are to attend the association's regional conference at Dayton today and tomorrow.
