Carl H Barnett, Eural Byfield and Austin Clifford of Indianapolis to the executive committee of the organization for 193536 Other mmebers of the committee are Frank Brown. Howard C Caldwell, and Miss Sarah Sisson. Mr. Barnett is a member of the class of 1910. Mr Clifford was graduated In 1917 and Mr. Byfield in 1924. BANKS REFLECT BETTER TIMES, GOVERNOR SAYS Increased Deposits Show Return of Prosperity, McNutt Declares. Indiana banks and building loan associations were termed “weathervanes of returning prosperity" today by Gov. McNutt, as he told of increased deposits in state banks. The address also was broadcast last night. "Timp deposits," he said, "in 427 banks under state control are $3,000.000 more today than a year ago and savings and thrift deposits total $99,749,000 as against $74,687,000 a year ago. Return of Prosperity Shown "Definite indication of a return to prosperity is reflected in the condition of Indiana financial institutions. Total resources for the fiscal year ending June .30 in Indiana amount to $373,017,518.10 or an increase of $61,000,000 in resources over June 30. 1934.” But one bank closed during the last, year, caused by defalcations of a cashier, he said. Four million dollars of the frozen deposits of those banks have been released.” Loan Association Resources Drop The state, he pointed out, has 375 building and loan associations, with total resources of 5215.000.000. compared to $246,000,000 in resources the previous yea r. "Lending of credit unions in Indiana has more than doubled during the last three and one-half years. Loans outstanding June 30. 1935, were $751,957.94 as compared with approximately $325,000 on Dec. 31. 1932.” Total assets of the 113 credit unions in the state was $1,114,158.59 at the end of the fiscal year compared to assets of $830,367 in the previous year, the Governor declared in conclusion.
