BOMB TOSSED IN MILK WAR Lighted Fuse Fails to Reach Dynamite; Strikers, Pickets Clash. Il'j r mtrd r, - CHICAGO. Oct. 14—Failure of a lighted fu.se to reach five sticks of dynamite saved a Delavan (Wis.) milk depot and nearby homes from destruction in Chicago's bitter milk strike war. Four youths hurled the bomb, Walworth County deputy sheriffs learned. They were believed to be Illinois pickets. The depot is owned by farmer members of the Pure Milk Association, marketing organization opposed to the strike. The bomb-throwing yesterday, additional dumping of milk and two batties between pickets armed with clubs, and state highway police and deputies were the latest violence as the strike started its third week. More than 3000 Sunday afternoon motorists witnessed an all-day battle at the Bowman Dairy Cos. plant at Capron as police attempted to remove wooden barricades from the highway. Seven pickets were arrested. Another fight occurred at she state line, where Wisconsin deputies were waiting to turn over dairy trucks to Illinois police. Three hundred Illinois pickets rushed over Hie line and fought the Wisconsin officers with fists, clubs and rocks. Two deputies were injured by rocks. The battle ended when the truck driver gave up and told deputies to permit the pickets lo dump his 90 cans of cream.
