II —The Middies of Annapolis defeated Virginia yesterday, 26 to 7, but were forced to come frofri behind. The Cavaliers led at the half, 7 to 6. Leys sprinted 60 yards for a touchdown and Martin kicked for the extra point. Single Pin Eludes Leppert in Bid for Perfect Game, but 299 Boosts His Series Total Atop Field

BY BERNARD HARMON r I "HE average weight of a bowling A pin is around three pounds four ounces, but to "Pug" Leppert, popular Uptown Recreation Alley manager, the No. 3 pin weighed a ton as it remained in an upright position to stand between him and a perfect 300 score last night. After drilling the pocket for 11 consecutive strikes, Leppert. performing with the Sherer Electrics of the Intermediate League at the Uptown drives, let loose one of his southpaw slants for a light hit, which left the elusive pin standing to give him a 299 game, the best produced by any pastimer of the city during the current season. He had opened his series with a 207 and. after winding up a't 181, he totaled 687, which proved to be the best three-game count in the city last night. Paced by Leppert's top series, the Sherer team had little trouble in downing the Enos Coal Cos. in all three games. Other winning aggregations took their series through double victories over their opponents. Safety Boosters, benefiting by Dowdell’s 614, squeezed out a victory over Johnson Coal Cos.; Indiana Candy grabbed a pair from Uptown Tavern, Clarence Russell of the winners and Norman Hamilton of the losers featuring with 573 and 590. respectively. Eastern Coal, paced by MfFadden's 553, twice downed Fisher’s Pharmacy, with Schoen at 593. and Coca-Cola took an odd game decision over Schultz Furniture Cos., Litz topping the winners at 531.
