A Woman’s Viewpoint ItV MRS. WALTER FERGUSON

A REPORT from the Federation of German Woman's Organizations reads like the fantastic distortions of a bad dream. It attempts to justify women s degradation In Germany. Such phrases s~ the following are numerous: “We must travel another road now, which we do consciously and with responsibility. This path our leader has pointed out to us and we gladly follow' him " Somehow the sentences have the stilted lift '.e. of forced expressions. They are as hollow as the applause of slaves for their master. The repon .bill", for what trees on with worn* n aero s the seas must be l l by the American woman. Let's make no nrstake about that. For we encouraged cither by our ignorance or our folly, the making of the unjust Versailles Treaty after the war. A a consequence Hitler today obtains this servile devotion, takes away women's rights and privileges, li: es them to breed soldiers for himself, all in the holy name of patriotism. Only by such self-sacrifice, he tells them, ran Germany be restored to its former strength and glory, and regain an honorable position among the nations. Had the Allies not squeezed and starved and ruined Germany, perhaps this ignominy might never have come to its women who once wa re leaders in science, art and ed ucation. Doe the fate of German women Concern us to any grave extent? Who ran tell? I believe it does. For the people of the earth are linked together by ties which they do not always see, but which, like underwater cables, join and make us one. Also, Germany is of our very blood, bone and sinew. Thus the tital wave of intolerance which now engulfs our sitsers over there may some day

TARZAN AND THE LION MAN

“I must go up and have a look into the king's courtyard.” said the creature. “I must keep an eye on Henry the Eighth. I'll leave this torch for you. Makes it more pleasant. And I want you to have as pleasant a stay as possible before —ah—er—. r au revoir.”

He turned and crossed toward a door as the opposite side of the room, chuckling as he went. Tarzan stepped quickly to the bars. “Come back here!” the ape-man commanded. “Either let us out of this hole or tell us why you are holding us—what you intend doing with us.”

—By Ahern

The half-man, half-gorilla beast wheeled suddenly, its expression transformed by a hideous snarl. Never had Tarzan seen so wild and brutal a face. It was a visage of some other world —a world of fiends and demons. “You dare issue orders to me!” it screamed.

“And why not?” demanded the ape-man, surveying his captor coolly. --“Who are you?” The snarling monster took a step nearer the iron-barred door that separated the two rooms, and tapped hi* hairy chest with a homy talon. “Who am I?” it cried. “I am—The Maker!”
