A Woman’s Viewpoint BY MRS. WALTER FERGUSON

"Vs RS. NELLE STULL, love export, who pained fame and fome fortune through her marriage bureau In Elyria. 0., is out on a western hunt for big game. Herds of unfettered men fly before her. The prairies echo the thunde r of frightened feet. Her raids are taking her into every city and hamlet, through the canyons and gullies of Arizona and New Mexico, into the cotton patches of Oklahoma, and over the vast reaches of Texas. Any place, in short, where the timid male may be hiding. Since the news of her coming has been noi-ed about the men are panicstricken. They lurk in thickets, hide behind sand dunes, skulk in and out among oil derricks and barricade themselves in their offices. For Mrs. Stull is no sneaker. Like those who hunt elephants, she beats the bushes as she advances. A halloo of newspaper publicity precedes her. She hopes for a big bag this time —BOO eligible, middle-aged men v. horn she wishes to introduce to certain clients. Object, as usual, matrimony. It seems the matrons of our more cultivated regions have developed a yen for booted and spurred heroes, the kind they have met in the movies. Not only do their localities lack widowers, but the tameness of those who do exist is beginning to pall. They hanker for hard-riding, straight-shooting, e' •*! r eyed men. So, with admirable optimi* the lady from Elyria is out '•* ...sing the Galahads of the plains. We learn from her not only that women are now more numerous in the land but

also that bachelors grow more coy each day. Her methods for snaring them are practical, for having Arm faith in the power of women to bind them fast, once they are brought within communicable distance, she stalks them with dogged determination. The West, however, Is not showing her its habitual hospitality. If there are 800 eligible males in the region, the native spinsters will not surrender them without a struggleThe prairies breed strong women as well as strong men, and a hint to Mrs. Stull should be sufficient.

TARZAN AND THE LION MAN

Tarzan knew immediately that he was trapped in the dungeon of the strange castle. He stood in silence, listening, waiting. Insistent in his nostrils was the scent of the woman. Then he heard rapid breathing. Its tempo connoted fear. Cautiously he approached the sound.

THE INDIANAPOLIS TIMES

He was quite close when a noise ahead of him brought him to a sudden halt. It sounded like the creaking of rusty hinges. Then a light appeared, revealing the whole scene. In front of him sat a white woman on a pallet, and beyond her was a door constructed of iron bars.

—By Ahern

Through the iron bars he saw another chamber. At the far side of it was a doorway, in which stood a strange creature holding a lighted torch In one hand. Tarzan could not tell if it were human or gorilla. Its form and face had of the characteristics of each.

The thing approached the iron-barred door, chuckling softly. The woman had turned and was looking at the creature in horror. Tarzan’s eyes too, were glued on the strange figure. A more repulsive being he had never seen. And this, he presumed, was their captor!
