PLYMOUTH AND DODGE EXHIBIT OPENS IN CITY Dealers Participate in Spring Showing of New Models. An open-house celebration and #print: showing of the latent Dodge and Plymouth cars is being made t gala event in which Dodge dealer are inviting the participation of the public. The showings, which opened in Indianapolis Saturday, are said to include entirely new features and a series of trials and demonstration-.; in the e vi itors will be asked to drive the ears themselves, to experience at first hand what engineers have named the Airglide nde, the synchromatic control by which drivers are relieved of a i.umber of operations which required their attention formerly, and other interesting automobile improvements. Dramatic proof- are to be given ol the extra safety of a!l-:-w bodies, of perfected hydraulic brakes of the unique floating-power engine mountings and of other construction details, some of them described as startling in their affect on rid mg and operating comfort. SALES MEETING ON TIRES HELD United States Rubber Firm's Campaign for 1935 Presented. The (ire division of United States Rubber Products. Inc., held a sales and product, meeting with 100 dealers and field representatives of the Indianapolis district at the Athenaeum recently. J Reynolds McCoy, district manager, discussed the company's 1935 sales and merchandising plans v hich he predicted will gear the dealer organization to greatly increased tire replacement sales. The company has shown remarkable progress, having increased sales during the first quarter of this year 73

pci cent above the same period in 1934. according to Mr. Coy. The guest speaker was L. Davis, sales engineer, from the company's ■moral oftim. New York. Dr. Davis Raced the development of a United States Royal tire from the rubber tree to the finished product, and printed out that uniform quality was made possible through the company's minute control of every item entering into its manufacture. The audience was especially intnested in Mr. Davis’ discussion of the new United States Royal vented tube, which he stated eliminates the possibility of blowouts caused from trapp'd air between the tube and drop center type rims. These new tubes, incidentally, are manufactured in the company’s Indianapolis plant, which is the largest tube plant, in the world. After the meeting the dealers were entertained by Mr. McCoy and his staff in the Athenaeum buffet where refreshments were served. Filling Station Fact New York state has. one filling station for every 81 vehicles.

CUMMINGS SET DIESEL RECORD National Speed Champion Is Credited With Mark of 137.195 Miles. Misunderstanding on the part of the public in regard to who holds the world speed record for Diesel oil-burning cars brought from Ted Allen, secretary of the contest board of the American Automobile Association, a supplementary official bulletin in which he credits the honors to Bill Cummings, national speedway champion, and his Cummins Diesel at a speed of 137.195 miles an hour. The Cummings record was established at Daytona Beach, Fla., on March 2 and is 12 miles an hour faster than the 125.055 miles an hour attained on-Feb. 15 at Daytona by Dave Evans.

FORD OFFICIALS EXPECTING NEW SALES RECORD April Output Schedules Reported Highest Since Days of Model T. “March was one of the biggest Ford months in the history of the Indianapolis branch territory, and April schedules are greater than any month since the days of the Model T.” This was the statement made today by R. A. Hayes, Indianapolis branch manager after compiling the returns for the month. “And the strangest part of this achievement.” Mr. Hayes pointed out, “is that our record for March would have been even greater had the supply of cars been able to keep pace with demand. ‘‘Actually, the public had us hanging on the ropes for awhile until our factory production finally reached the 6000-a-dav figure. In my years with the Ford Motor Cos. i have never experienced such enthusiastic public support of the Ford car. “Even back in March, 1929—the biggest month for the Model A—the interest was not as great as it is today in the new Ford V-8 for 1935. “We look for April so smash some of our long-standing sales records in this branch territory. Every indication points to accomplishments which will be outstanding in the history of the branch.”
