A Woman’s Viewpoint RY MRS. WALTER FERGUSON

IF you were bom a female, you must haw noticed with what passionate eagerness men desire your domesticf.tlon. Some of the most eloquent passages ever penned w< re written by them on the subject. “Woman's Duty." Os late they have begun to repeat themselves. And so we hear onre more that if we conduct ourselves submissively God will emile upon the earth, but if. on the contrary, we bestir ourselves in Immodest and bothersome ways, civilizations will fall and plagues Increase. We gather that th- men would be pleased to have us go home and stay there at :< :r r until they ran get their other war to going, when naturally w< will be- expected to come forth and keep industry alive, as we did before. As for me, I suspect their noble motives. Long ago men learned to disguise their selfish aims by giving them fine names. What these men really want Is more fussing over, more waiting on. They love to be admired, petted and pampered by daughters, sisters, mothers, wives. Hence they trot out the ancient and honorable titles, giving them patriotic and even religious meanings. Herr Hitler, II Duce, as well as many an English and American man, want the women back home so they may get‘the sort of servile vigilance they have always craved—the babying which has been and still Is nectar to their souls. Is it really posterity, civilization or even the home which moves modem men to resort once more to ancient platitudes? May it not be, instead, the old consuming desire to be the cf nter of woman's interest, since our nAtice of late has been diverted

Naomi, hanging in the hollow of his arm, was frozen with horror. The Arabs had seemed bad enough, but this repulsive brute! She wondered when and how he would kill her. But the gorilla had no intention of killing a creature so pleasant to look upon and so valuable to his rulers.
