BACK PROJECTS ON WEST SIDE Committees Named by Civic Groups to Seek Action on Three Proposals. Commutes rho.v*n last night at a mass mating of West Side residents in the Hawthorne Community House today took action to push three proposed West Side projects—track elevation, an addition to Washington High School and development of a parkway and boulevard system along Eagle Creek. The committees include R. N. Phelps, Mrs. Frank Lentz and Leon Thompson, high school addition; Dr. Walter Hemphill, William Emrich and Roscoe Conkle, track elevation, and Edward Workman, Mrs. Bob Shank, R M. Manring, Dr. E T. Gaddy and Mrs. T. V. Petronofl, boulevard. A permanent organization of all Civic groups on the West Side will be formed at a meeting April 23 at the Community House. The committees will make their reports then. C. G. Baker, Community House director, was named temporary chairman last night. Traffic regulations to promote safety will be discussed at. a meeting of the South Side Civic Club central committee at 8 tonight at 1214 Prospect-st. Walter c. Rothermel will preside.

HONOR DUE MEMBERS AT V. OF F. W. MEETING Eight to Receive Purple Hearts From State Commander. Purple Hearts will be conferred on | eight members of Frank 1 Strayer j Post. Veterans of Foreign Wars, tonight by Gerald Mathias, state commander. An entertainment in Mr. Mathias’ honor will be held after the business meeting. Unemployed single men, between 18 and 25. may enroll for six months, under orders issued by Robert Fechner, national CCC director. who amnorlzed enlistment of 110,000 more recruits. THEFT SUSPECTS HELD Two Negro Youths Nabbed After Filling Station Burglary. Two Negroes were held today in connection with the theft of auto tires valued at SBS from Hoosier Pete's gasoline station at 2201 N. Capitol-av last night.
