TOURIST RULES MADE SIMPLER QLiebec Prepares to Greet American Tourists in New Season. /f v 7 . met Sfif mil MONTREAL. Quebec. April 3 Revised customs regulations facilitating tne entry of American tourists into this province, and announcement of a varied program of spring and summer pageants and celebrations, are being hailed here as factors bound to exert a salutary effect on Quebec's 1935 tourist and resort season. Os chief interest to American vacationists is a ruling, effective this month, affecting temporary admission a’ frontier ports of tourists whose visit to Canada is confined to points within the jurisdiction of the frontier port of arrival. Heretofore only a 24-hour stay was allowed without issuance of a permit. This period has now' been lengthened to 48 hours, thus allowing visitors, entering Canada over a Quebec border, to spend a full week-end in the province without the formality and red tape of a permit. Also of benefit to incoming tourists is a new' ruling affecting automobilists seeking to tour on Quebec’s 16.000 miles of improved highways. In the past, any one traveling in a car who carried extra equipment, such a.' fishing tackle, cameras and other pleasure paraphernalia, was required to fill two forms, one for the automobile and another for the equipment. Under the new' rule only one form will have to be filled, saving time and trouble. REBUILDERS WILL MEET Convention to Be Held in City May 27 to 30. The Automotive Engine Rebuilders' Association will hold its thirteenth annual convention here May 27 to 30. Hotel accommodations have beer obtained, and plans are being made for the program, which already includes several speakers, according to R. G. Patterson, vice president. Several applications for space have already been received from manufacturers. he said. Ga* Wasted Many cars waste gas by rising too rich a mixture. It is a good plan to have the carburetor inspected at regular intervals by a competent mechanic. Fee* Pay for Road* Motor license fees and gasoline taxes finance more than 80 per cent of rural highways on state systems.
