The atill nurtured idea, for lnitance. that mothers should do nothin* but mother has been one es the devastating forces of our time. Now a woman's whole life force may be expended in the maternal arts, but that doesn’t prevent her from finding a good deal of extra time on her hands which she has to fill somehow. Inevitably her children grow up. but, if she has been one of those maternal leeches who simply can t live apart from her offspring, the chance* are good that she will have ruined them before they reached maturity. Any psychiatrist will tell you that many broken marriages can be traced directly back to such women who, poor dears, noble-minded but Ignorant, have concentrated all their energies into mothering, morning. noon and night. And they've done this, mind you. largely because man has so ordered It. A mother's Job consists only in being a mother—millions of men have mouthed the lovely sentiment. Doubles* the principle was first set tip by one of these spoiled, motherfruatrated sons, and the rest of them fastened upon it like a dog upon a bone. Why on earth should there be anything "holv” about motherhood? A wholly Mao experience in reality. I think it was managed much better before all those sacred implications became attached to it. Man wanted his women holy ar t

so we arrived at the teary, tremblmg-of-the-voi re atage when we contemplated motherhood. This sweet idea constituted Also a protective device to keep women out of mischief. Atewy grasped the reins of Naomi’s horse, to guide it away from danger. He wanted her to live, for he wanted her to be his. But, at the next moment, it seemed that death would snatch her from him. A giant crocodile was near, and now opened its jaws to devour her!
