IF I were conducting a school for . girls. I'd start a course on * How to Neglect Your Children." for you'll find that neglected families are often the happest of all, and none s .tiers like one manned and managed by a devoted mother. How many times have I listened to w omen holding forth on the subject of their abject submission, their eternal devotion to children, cr their everlasting solicitude for their hu binds. If they go on long enr izh their conversation smacks of the -ariv Christian martyr period. Spewing entirely from personal experience. I am ready to broadcast one fa* t *n *hc world. It's no dreadj i, hard, nip ’o work for the mr.n vou love. There's nothing painful In havir.z to go without a re v dress so your pretty daughter can have one. It' no puni.hment to scrape yuur nickels together to give your ton some gift his heart may crave. Th* *e characteristics come natural* to mothers. They're no effort: thev re fun. You ilk'- doing them and derive from them your sweetc• r. satisfaction. Why then all this 1 ihbub about material seif-sacri- : You may look with suspicion at the woman who whines on about working her fingers to the bone for the family, and otherwise conducts herself like a Uriah Heep in petticoats. That kind of talk proves r.e possessor of a full-fledged martyr complex which, after all. is only Inverted selfishness. What is more important, she is not a good mother, for she’ll be one who does not allow* her children to make their own decisions, who chooses their clothes and mates for them: who flutters over them like an alarmed old hen and rides them as relent-

M’NUTT BEST LOOKING GOVERNOR IN NATION, CAPITAL EXPERT SAYS
WASHINGTON, March 15 —lndiana has thee best looking governor, in the opinion of John B. Wei’s, Winthrop. Mass. Now, Mr. Wells, who has charge of new-paper distribution in the loboy of the House of Representatives, should know about- such things. He has been collrctirg potographs of notables for many years. His decision regrading Gov. Paul V. McNutt was reached today when he received an autographed photograph from the Hoosier chief executive, which he had solicited. "I remember first seeing Gov. MsNutt at an American Legion parade in Boston, when he was national commandpr,” Mr. Wells explained. “I thought then he was fine looking. Later. I saw his picture on she sands of Miami and I felt it should be added to my cabinet of some 250. Now* that I have it. I am positive that he is the best looking in the lot.” This decision includes male competition only. Mr. Wells explains that he still features Mrs. Virginia Jrnckes, Sixth Indiana District Representative, as a favorite in his home.

THE INDIANAPOUS TIMES
For several moments Rhonda Terry’ lay quietly where she had been hurled from her horse. As she regained consciousness she saw the lion with his forefeet on his kill, roaring at Naomi's vanishing steed. Then his eyes fell on the girl. A low growl rumbled in his throat.
—By Ahern
Rhonda froze in terror. She wanted to close her eyes to shut out the snarling face, but she feared the slightest movement would bring the beast upon her. She had heard that if animals thought a person dead they would not harm the body. But this might not be true.

Suddenly the lion wheeled slowly and approached her. As he came closer she heard him growling and sniffing at her body. Then, suddenly, she found herself staring through motionless, terrified eyes into the blazing eyes of the beast, felt his hot breath on her face!
