CUBANS FACE DEATH WARNING General Strike Continues to Spread Paralysis to All Corners. B* V*U*4 Brest HAVANA. March 12—Th* government prescribed the death penalty today for persons who by acts of sabotage interfere with the food, light, power and water services, but the revolutionary general strike continued to spread economio paralysis through the island. Death was decreed also for bombers and persons who attack government forces Offenders will be tried by summary courts under the state of war proclaimed to meet the challenge of the strikers to the administration of President Carlos Mendieta. President Mendieta expressed confide! ice of victory. ‘‘'Hie strikers’ cause is lost." he told the United Press. ‘ This L. not false optimism but the result of cool observation. Others were imprisoned temporarily, then taken away and killed secretly. Hevia charged. “I considered Cuba too unsafe for me," Hevia said. He flew here from Havana. BANK BANDIT SUSPECT PUT IN REFORMATORY Placed in State Institution for Safe Keeping. Merritt Lnngbrake. Claypool, Ind.. suspected Ohio and Indiana bank robber, was to be removed from the Marion County jail today and taken to the Indiana State Reformatory for safe keeping pending his trial for a bank robbery at Roann. Ind., last month. Capt Matt Leach, chief of the Indiana state police, said that Longbrake would be held in the state institution rather than a county jail because the suspect has a record as a jail breaker. Longbrake was arrested Sunday in Omaha. Neb., and brought here last night. He is alleged to have confessed the Roann holdup. The suspect diverted the attention of the community by setting fire to a barn at the edge of Roann. authorities allege.

Indianapolis city engineers went to Chicago last week-end to watch a demonstration of a garbage cooker. The demonstrators needing garbage, sent out to a restaurant. but that garbage wouldn't do. Then they filched garbage from household pails, but that garbage contained ashes as well, and that wouldn’t do. So the officials had to call up *he Sanitary District here and order a load of Indianapolis garbage sent to Chicago for the demonstration. This was done, and the demonstration was made Sunday.
