iWITNESSES AT PAROLE HEARING ABSOLVE WOLFE Alleged Chapman Aid Not at Scene of Slaying, Is Testimony. New testimony was added today to the conflicting evidence which sent Charles iOne-Arm* Wolfe, alleged lieutenant of the notorious Gerald Chapman, to the Indiana State Prison for life in connection with the slaying of a Delaware ; County farm couple in 1925. Wolfe, whose petition for parole was heard by the state clemency commission late yesterday, Chapman and George (Dutch) Anderson, were alleged to have killed Mr. and Mrs. Ben Hance while the trio was hiding out at their home near Midj dletown. Yesterday's hearing was a combination of echoes of the slayings, Wolfe's trial and tb- famous Indiana Senate impeachment trial of forruer Judge Clarence Dearth, who presided in the Wolfe case. Dr. R. H. Bunch. Muncie lawyer; ; Mrs. Mary Armstrong, a former elevator operator in the building in which Mavoi Bunch had his office, and Dan O. Davis, Muncie policeman. testified that they saw' Wolfe at the same time as the double shooting eight miles southw r est of ' Muncie. Ralph Niblock. Middletown undertaker, testified that Wolfe's name w-as not mentioned in Mr. Hance's dying statement. Sam Whitaker and Alex Thomas, both of Indianapolis, sons-in-law of Mrs. Hance, denied that Wolfe had any connection with the shooting. Paul Brady, Muncie attorney and former deputy prosecutor, charged that Judge Dearth drew jurors’ names from a telephone book, from members of the W. C. T. U„ and members of his Sunday school class.
