THE mother of a 6-year-old girl considers breaking off her marriage of 10 years' duration. She is restrained only by the thought that her friends believe her to be happy, and by fear for her child's future, a hie urging her on is the dream of finding a more suitable mate. The solution of sum a situation is a responsibility which honor demands of the individual whose future is at stake. There Is a pit yawning at this womans leet. however, the usual pit which Is faced by each woman who considers divorce. Lake most : her kind, she really bel:eve - .-he is actuated by a desire to do the wise ,t thing, when it is probable 'i.- is moved instead by a subcons* lous longing for that mythical crea'ure, "a more suitable mate.” And he, alas, does not lurk just a.ound the comer, but it always in tho*>e remote regions of feminine imagination, a gallant knight jousting for his lady fair, tender, devoted, a Launcelot of a man. who rarely d< < nd to * ir - h and never marries a on*- of as. Yet he is the core pondent in nine out of 10 divorce < us . the fellow who disrupts or the law\ers and breaks more women’s hearts than any live Valentino. To be sure, if a person is sure she is permanently miserable in her marriage, she is jastified in ending it. One fact, however, should be remembered.
