George Nordlin

Indianapolis Eagles aerie will be host Monday night to George Nordlin, former national president of the order and a member of the advisory council of President Roosevelt's Committee on Economic Security. Mr. Nordlin, a St. Paul, Minn, attorney, is chairman of the national board of trustees of the Eagles. In his honor, the aerie will initiate a class of candidates at the lodge home, 43 W. Vermont-st. Appointment of Mr. Nordlin to the security committee council was in recognition of his efforts in behalf of old-age pensions.

FIRST LADY IS STORM CENTER IN D,A.R, FEUD Candidate Is Accused of Indorsing Report of Socialism. By Cnit'4 Pr**n WASHINGTON, Feb. 28—While others worried today about relief and pension bills, the Daughters of the American Revolution were in the thick of a lively political campaign ! of their own involving Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt, attacks on “radicals” and the society’s policies. The D. A. R. battle, to be decided when delegates gather to elect national officers in April, promises to become as heated as its famous “blacklist” controversy of six years ago. One candidate for president general is Mrs. William a Becker, present chairman of the society’s national defense committee. Her name appeared as an indorser of a book which listed Mrs. Roosevelt as a “socialist sympathizer and associate,” but she disowned the indorsement and said it was used without her permission. Blacklist Is Recalled The other ticket is headed by Mrs. Flora Myers Gillentine of Chattanooga. whose supporters are making much of the supposed indorsement. They claim Mrs. Becker has j used her office to distribute in the name of the society unauthorized attacks on individuals. “I can't see how anybody by the wildest stretch of imagination can I think Mrs. Becker can be elected when you consider what happened over the blacklist,” one her opponents said. The book that has caused the furore is “The Red Network—A Who’s Who and Handbook of Radicalism for Patriots,” written and published by Elizabeth Dilling of Chicago Other Notables Listed Its “Who’s "Who” section lists 1200 names ranging from Karl Marx and Joseph Stalin to Mrs. Roosevelt,
