a decision, by what right does the Judiciary Committee relegate this bill to obscurity? There are large groups that do not favor birth control. They should have the privilege of giving voice to their opinions. And if the measure fs ultimately lost in an open fight, well and good. We shall have to abide by the. majority rule, but as conditions now stand the tabling of the birth control bill should be resented by every citizen who believes 'hat mothers and babies, as well as Congressmen, have a right to eat. SENATOR ROARS ’NO’ AGAINST HIS OWN BILL Assembly Startled as Sponsor Shouts Disapproval; Bill Lost. The Indiana Senate yesterday was treated to the unusual spectacle of a Senator roaring a loud “no” against his own bill, which he had advocated with considerable force and eloquence during a bitter debate. This measure, in effect, would have increased compensation of county surveyors and was sponsored by Senator Jesse E. Wade <D., Mt. Vernon >. The measure was bitterly attacks by Senator Walter Vermillion <D„ Anderson) and Senator Alaason Albright <D, Cayuga). The bill was hopelessly last when Senator Wade's name was reached He amused 'he startled Senate with a loud roar of disapproval. Then several Senators changed their votes, the final tabulation resulting in the measure's defeat, 45-1.

As the day drew on, the kidnaped girls began to feel the fatigue of the swift journey. They suffered, too, from the shock of their experiences, beginning with the moment when Atewy and two others had crept into their tent, silenced them with threats, ransacked the tent, and carried them off into the night.

Naomi had been a more likable person recently. The emergencies of the past few days had scraped away some of her d'sagreeable haughtiness.

At last the Arab band made camp, certain that they had outdistanced pursuit. “Methinks the sheik hath done wrong to bring the ‘benat’ with us,” said Eyad, nodding toward the girls. “When you take men’s worn 3ll, they follow —and kill! Was it not enough to bring away the map of the Valley of Diamonds?”

“But the map is written in the language of ‘elEngleys,’” replied the sly Atewy. “English I speak, but can not read. The ‘benat’ will read the map to me. Besides if we keep them unharmed, we can turn a pretty profit from those two. Which reminds me, Eyad—l have seen thee cast eyes upon them!"
