PINOCHLE WINS HIGH PRAISE OF BRIDGE EXPERTS Combines Best Features of Auction and Contract, Says Sims. ' Auction pinochle is one of the two finest games that have ever been invented. In fact., it was the inspiration not only of auction bridce, but of cor'ract bridge, and combines the best features of both games." This statement Is made by P Hal Sims, foremost authority on bridge, in his latest book. Pinochle Pointers,” just off the press. Mr Sims is general director of the Indianapolis championship pinochle tournament, one of 15 such tournaments being held to determine the pmoch e champion of the United States. The Indianapolis tournament Is sponsored by The Times and will fce under the direction of Fritz A. Schneider. who will be Mr Sims' peisonal representative. The tournament opens Feb. 18 at the Columbia Club and w-.1l continue for three weeks. There will be nine sessions of play. The game will he two-handed pinochle and will be for games, not points. One thousand points constitutes a game. Prizes offered by The Times in the local tournament are: First prize. $300; second. $100; third. SIOO. with 50 additional prizes of autographed copies of * Pinochle Pointer.;'' by Mr Sims for the 50 next highest scores. Feb. 11—Four of five men arrested at Brownstown near here witb 813 pounds of recently speared fish in their possession, were fined $23.55 each by a Brownstown justice of the peace. The fifth, upon a plea of not guilty, was held for trial. Game waiuena seized the five as they used searchlights while spearing fish in White River. A number of spears and two boats also were confiscated. The three sacks of fish captured weic distributed to relief organizations in Seymour and Brownstown.
