Indiana Cage Five Favored Over Gophers Every Western Conference Net Team in Action Tonight.

b:• United Prrgt CHICAGO, Feb. 9.—Western Conference basketball settles back into full stride tonight after an interruption for mid-year examinations, with siv teams engaged in conference games and the four other members playing outside foes. The schedule brings Minnesota against Indiana at Bloomington, lowa against Ohio State at Columbus, Illinois against Chicago in the Windy City, Northwestern against Notre Dame in Evanston, Purdue against Fordham in New York, and Wisconsin against De Pauw in Madison. Ohio State is given an even chance in most prognostications to haul lowa out of a third-place tie in the conference. Indiana probably will get a tighter grip on second place by defeating Minnesota, and Cricago should be easy for Illinois. Standings: w. L. Pet. Edwards-Marvin Mat Go Stirs City Fan Interest ‘Chiropractic Hold’ Clashes with 'Chin Lock’; Davis and Marshall Top Armory Bill Tuesday. Although billed only as the semi-windup, the Billy Edwards-Tom Marvin “pet hold” wrestling tussle on the Hercules A. C. all-heavyweight card at the Armory Tuesday night is creating almost as much interest as the featme struggle, according to Matchmaker Lloyd Carter.

Edwards, who scales around 214. and hails from Dallas, Tex., has appeared here on the last two mat programs, beating two husky opponents with his widely-heralded "chiropractic” hold. The first one to say “enough” was the stormy Dick Raines. Last week, Sol Slagel. 255, was subdued. Next Tuesday the rugged Marvin will attempt to match his chin look with the “chiropractic.” The aggressive Texas has little to say about his “chiropractic,” other than the hold is clamped on above the eyes when he gives his opponents “the works.” Big Boy Davis. 236, vs. Everett Marshall, 218, is the top bout on the card. It promises to be a lively encounter. Marshall is rated by mariy as second to Jim Londos. In the opening match, Otto Kuss, 22C Indiana University student, will oppose Paul Harper, 220. former allround athlete from Southern Methodist University. Both are popular with the SEARS AND FOLLOWS TO RENEW RIVALRY NEW YORK, Feb. u.—John Follows, former Wisconsin-Oxford twomile running star, will renew his rivalry with Ray Sears of Butler University In the N. Y. A. C. meet at Madison Square Garden, Feb. 16. Follows defeated every runner he met indoors last year and set anew American record of 9:09 for two miles before being bested at the K. of C. games by Sears, whom he had defeated earlier. Sears lowered the American record to 9; 07.4 in winning. NORTH SIDE Talbot & 22nd TALBOTT "S:. 1 ” c F .'C" “GAMBLING” “DESIRABLE” Sun.
